2010 Marda Gras Street Festival, our 26th annual event, was another smashing success!  This New Orleans themed, family-friendly festival embraced the culture, cuisine and music of New Orleans for one full day along 33rd and 34th Avenues SW East of Crowchild Trail between 21st and 19th Streets SW in Calgary, Alberta. With its purple, green and gold pageantry,  the Festival featured the sights and sounds of New Orleans Jazz, Rhythm and Blues, street performances, Zydeco music and a variety of cultural performers.  

 This year the Festival hosted over 170 street vendors, including a variety of outdoor patios and a feature area with a variety of vendors from the Calgary Farmer's Market.  Other feature areas include the Kids’ Quarter, with face painters and bouncy castles and a variety of activities for families, with proceeds going to the Children's Wish Foundation.  A new Fashion Fairway featured two spectacular fashion shows, the Arts Stop, featured local artists from Calgary, the Eco Alley showcasing going green initiatives, and a silent auction surprised our visitors with dozens of unique item to bid on.  Attracting over 35,000 people at this year's event, ten blocks of city streets truly came alive with the magic of Marda Gras.
